Through the Years...

Takael moved in today.
Suz and I are so glad to have her here with us.
It has been a little lonely here.
I was thinking today how funny it is that after 20 years we are still besties!
And I have proof.
I was in the hospital the day Takael was born.
And let me tell you - Ann and Debbie gave us no choice but to be best friends. This picture is so classic.
I can't believe I am posting it.
First - I think I would be considered an obese kid.
Second - My Mom thought bright pink blush was in
Third - We are wearing ties
Fourth - What are those bangs?
Mom?

Terry Talents - the good ol' days of performing in the mall. This one is my favorite!
I wish I had the classic picture of me and Takael.
When we were in Kindergarten we were jumping on my Moms bed and noticed the red mark the carpet left on our knees.
Since it was Christmas time we thought it would be perfect.
We would slide our noses along the hall carpet and BAM we would be Rudolph.
As you can imagine we both had nasty carpet burns on our noses.
The burns lasted for weeks turning in to scabs.
Our Mom's were so proud.
Takael,
noses + carpet + tonight = roommate initiation!

Happy Birthday Mom!

It is my Mom's birthday today.
She is off in Vegas shopping and enjoying herself.
I wish I was there to celebrate with her - but I will be soon.
My Mom is totally under appreciated.
She does so much for all of us.
She is a completely devoted wife and Mom.
I look up to her because she always thinks of my Dad and the Staples kids and grandkids before she thinks of herself.
I hope she pampers herself today and realizes how much we love her.
Love you Mom!
Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Katie

It is Birthday time again in the Staples family.
Katie's birthday was yesterday.
She turned 28!
We all went up to the Mandarin in Bountiful.
Scott bought us all a delicious dinner
(thanks again Scott)
27 was a great year for Katie,
but I have a feeling 28 will be even better!
Love you Katie!
Happy Birthday

Summer Projects

I am going to sunny St. George for a few weeks to soak up the sun.
I have lots of projects to get done.
Don't you just love summer projects?

Cook
Workout
Intern at KCSG

And any miscellaneous projects I am assigned by Ann and Larry

I am also on the summer job search.
If you or anyone you know needs help scrapbooking, quilting, cleaning, organizing, etc. or a babysitter for an hour, a day, a week, a month ANYTHING - please let me know!

The Co Assistant Producers

These are the girls I intern with at ABC 4.
Are they just darling or what?
Rox (the one on my left) is the producer of the show.
She is quite possibly the most exciting person I have ever met.
She wrote an "intern bible" and says we aren't interns we are "Co Assistant Producers."
I think I like that title.
Kayla is on the far left and she will be attending USU in the fall,
then Brittany who attends UVU,
and Brooke who is at BYU.
We have a blast together.
If any of you are interested in seeing the show I would love escort you to your seat.
(this is the climax of my job - so exciting!!)
Just come in July or August when I am back from my break.

Missing London Town

With Summer here I can't help but miss this city.
Things I miss about London:
Seeing a Broadway Show every single Friday and Saturday
Galaxy Chocolate
PriMark
A great ward
Running in Hyde Park
Walking everywhere
No cell phone
The accents
The Parliament building at night
Borough Market
The London Magic!

Bon Voyage!

Kourtney is off on another study abroad!
Can you believe it has been almost a year since I went to London?
CRAZY! I am so mad at the little twit for leaving me in America while she jets off to the corners of the earth.
It is an awesome study abroad.
She goes to New York, Paris, London, Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Tokyo -
all in 4 weeks.
Lucky duck.
Last week Ashley G. needed girls to take some pictures for her class.
Somehow we got roped in to it.
After our "high fashion" shoot
(I won't include those pictures for your own good)
Kourtney and I couldn't resist being our silly selves and using some props.
I don't think Ashley knew what to do with us.
Our apartment gets pretty crazy sometimes.
I am going to miss me Suz and Kourt sitting up late discussing life.
I am going to miss late night bed chats and early morning runs to school.
It was a great year and I am sad to see everyone go their separate ways.
We will miss you around here Kourt - Bon Voyage!
After moving home (sometime in the next week)
I will come back to Provo for Summer Term.
Of course Kourtney and Hilary leaving is another bitter sweet event in my life
I will be living with 3 girls I absolutely adore for Summer!
Suz, Takael, and McCall.
It's so crazy how things have just fallen into place for the summer internships, missions, and roommates.
It's funny how things come full circle after high school.
McCall, Takael, and I have known each other for years - but "ran in different circles" until our senior year.
I am excited to live together as we have all matured and are different from the girls we were in high school.
As I get ready to pack one large bag to go back to STG for a few weeks,
I look back on the past two years and wonder where the time went.
How did I get here and where am I going?
But I have learned something over the past two years, sometimes
(and just sometimes)
it is ok to not know where the road will take you.
Sometimes going backward is just what you need in order to move forward.
I am headed home to take a break and enjoy the people I love
- isn't this what is most important in the end?
I am so blessed to have such amazing friends and family.
I am excited to have the next couple of weeks to focus a little more on them and a little less on me.
Bon Voyage
to everyone who is embarking on their summer journey!

Warren in the Making

My big brother graduated last weekend.
Despite the fact that I couldn't sit through his 4 hour graduation, I was really proud of him.
For those of you who don't know, my brother is perhaps the most driven person in the world.
He just won the Business Plan Competition at BYU.
He has amazing grades and is ALWAYS advising us on the economy and money.
He really is a genius.
But there is more to Derek than most know.
I just came across this as I was trying to find a picture of Derek and me.
(I don't have one from graduation - I skipped out early)
Some think Derek goes through different "phases" in his life.
I beg to differ.
I think Derek has been aspiring to one goal his whole life...
Becoming Warren Buffet.
Maybe its just me, but I think he is getting there one step at a time.
Graduation is just one more step!
Ok Ok, maybe this isn't Derek's end goal but I think he is pretty amazing nonetheless.
I am proud to say, he is my FAVORITE brother.
Congrats Derek!

A New Era...

Finals are over!
I (barely) survived
My GE's are all done - except for 1.
As of Friday I will be the only Staples not graduated (sorry Dad)
Jordan is preparing to move home
Kourtney moves out
Takael moves in
I had my first day as an official intern today
Derek and Mary will be leaving me soon
Michael will leave
My best friend will leave
Some best friends will come home
I will be leaving this apartment in the fall - and sharing a room
Melissa will be here
I will be thrown in front of a camera in the fall - and will be there for years I suppose
I will be 20
Lots of changes!
Almost all are bitter sweet
But mostly good
All I can say is, wish me luck!

Grades...

Forget it!
I just computed my grades.
I would like to think I have done well here at BYU-
But this semester is going to seriously damage my great GPA.
I just figured out I have to get 109% on my SEWING final to get an A.
Lesson #5000 at BYU
There is no such thing as an easy, fun class!!

Really??

Snow and I have had a better relationship this year.
It has not pounded me as hard (or as cold) this year as it did last.
BUT...April 16th... is this necessary??
Dear Snow,
We are in a fight!!!!

First internship...

I finally have my first internship at...ABC 4... I will be interning on...

I am going to work for a few weeks during Spring term
- take some time off to enjoy summer -
and be in SLC every morning starting the beginning of July.
I am pretty excited!!!

Creative Mary!

I just have to give a shout out to my FAVORITE sister-in-law Mary.
It was her portfolio event last week and even though she doesn't like to make it a big deal
- I thought it was pretty cool!
Mary is a great interior designer - mostly cause she likes colors other than brown (HA)
Thanks for letting me be part of the festivities.
And especially thank you to Jane and Roger for letting us join the after party!
Congratulations graduate!
(Oh and have fun in Hawaii while I am in Provo taking finals - its cool!)

The Future...

I have been thinking a lot about my future lately.
I am turning 20 in 1 month.
How is that possible?
20 is SO grown up - I am not ready for 20.
My life reminds me of my Mom's old license plate frame..
"Get in. Sit down. Shut-up. and Hold on."
I have worries now that I never imagined I would have.
I see a graduation date in the future.
Two of my best friends are leaving.
I have so many scary adventures ahead of me - and sometimes I get too scared.
I really took conference to heart this season.
It was just what I needed.
My favorite line of conference:
Your future is as bright as your faith!
- President Monson

He's here!

I've always looked up to Kels (aka Bubbles).
The girl I used to play dolls with now has a little doll of her own.
John William Ence
6 lbs 7 oz 17 1/2 inches long
Born: 11:35 am March 30 2009
Welcome to the family little Will.
I haven't even seen you and I already love you bunches and bunches.

Have I mentioned...

I HATE THE SNOW!Last night our fridge went out. Perfect right?
In the midst of sceaming for some great April fools jokes and a whole lot of commotion -
I opened the fridge to find
warm milk and eggs.
Suz called the emergency number.
Apparently this doesn't constitute an emergency.
Our option (one and only) was to put it in our neighbors fridge.
Our neighbors didn't answer.
So our only conclusion.
Put it on our 1' x 1' balcony.
And this morning...frozen milk and eggs.
I HATE THE SNOW!
I think I deserve a day off from school.
Oh and the fridge works this morning.

College Life 101

This weekend was the perfect college weekend! First - my adorable friend since the 6th grade is getting married!
It was so fun to see Megan.
She is just glowing with the bride to be beauty!
Amy had a bridal shower for her that was just delightful!
(Amy - Thanks for the photos!)
We were all asked to bring something that reminded us of Megan.
After the shower I went to the Festival of Colors at the Hindu temple.
The drive was hilarious. If any of you know Kourt - you know that you are nothing but VIP with her. We passed people walking for over 3 miles! We were determined we would find a close spot. And we did! The best part was girls were looking at us like we were crazy. I tried to stick my head out to ask for Valet but the giggles got the best of me.
This Hindu temple is located in Spanish Fork - who knew! There was 10 - 15 THOUSAND people at the event.
We got there a bit late - our style of course - and there was no more chalk left. Kourt was determined we would get some. After trying to salvage the last few she was a bit discouraged.
Oh no worries - a few moments later she was able to bribe a little Hindu lady with $10 for this stuff!
The Festival of Colors (also known as Holi) is held each year. It's funny - I don't think a single one of the Mormon kids at this event knows why this event is held. All I know is there was a big bonfire burning some huge witch looking thing and on the count of 1...2...3. you throw!
Besties!
When we left people were still throwing! It was out of control. You can't breath. You can't see. It's one of those things that at the end you wonder why you did this to yourself. But so fun. We just waltzed right into cafe rio after this - when the 4 of us have to eat - we HAVE to eat.
My hair is still pink.
Kourt's is still green.
I blew purple stuff out of my nose for days.
My clothes are ruined.
And our entire ward had to beg our bishop not to call the honor code office on our colored hair.
Now that is what I call a true college event!
