"Your Future Is As Bright As Your Faith"

I received this email in my inbox this morning.
As my Mom and I sat reading it - tears ran down my face.
This is just what I needed this morning.
I don't know why I am sharing it.
But I think maybe it will remind all of us how blessed we are.

Dear Karly,

You don't know me this is Erika Varcaba(23) from Ukraine, Europe.
I came across with your blog like half a year ago
and I am not exaggerating saying that your fantastic blog has been a big help for me so many times for so many reasons.
Sorry for my spelling mistakes but as I've mentioned above I live in Ukraine
with a Hungarian nationality.
I found out that you are going on private with your blog.
I have been meaning to e-mail you long time ago because I know how people feel about unknown people reading about their lives.
I am so happy that you gave your e-mail in your entry so I can write to you know.
I really would love to go on reading your blog and let me explain why...
When I found your blog I was in a very bad mood with having a pretty big problem with school.
I was browsing the internet to find some articles to my thesis and I found your entry of Sunday, April 5, 2009 "Future".
I was so embittered for one reason and another but after reading these:
"Get in. Sit down. Shut-up. and Hold on."
"Your future is as bright as your faith!"
it really helped to pull myself together and think about the bright things.
I graduated with masters in English language (teacher)
and at my graduation party I somehow remembered these words and I was so thankful to you because it felt as if you helped me to solve my problems
even though you did not even know I existed.
I have learned from you a lot!
Starting from being able to express my lovely parents how much I do love them
finishing with the English words and phrases (literally, typically, seriously etc)
which are so natural for you to use and so many more in the between.
You are a great girl!!!!
The kind of person that this world needs lots more of!!!
You are loving, helpful, caring, kind, smart and pretty!
Through your blog I got the picture of you as a girl who puts everything into what she is doing. And while doing it she is full of life!!!
I live in a very little town where people are very negative and depressed
because of the whole political and economical situation of our country.
In my dreams I am leaving a life which is colorful and happy
and even though I know you like everybody else in this world has problems and bad days
but whenever I have read your blog it always was a sunshine for me.
As if you were the girl who have showed me the little things that makes life beautiful.
I am really thankful for this!!!!

Ericka

(she even attached pictures so I could see her)

Erika and I have now been chatting on Facebook.
I didn't need her to email me to hear how my blog has helped her...
I needed her to email me to remind me that no matter what our situation,
we must rise above it and choose to be happy.
She reminded me that I need to continue to be the girl she believes I am.

I told Erika that the quote, "Your Future Is As Bright As Your Faith" comes from a leader of my religion.
Ironically, one of my very best friends from high school is serving a mission for my church in her area.
I am hoping to get them in contact with each other.
I told Erika that I truly believe my families happiness comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I would love to claim this "sunshine" as my own.
I don't think it is.

Dear Erika,
You already know this...
But you have inspired me.
Thank you for touching my life today.
I can't wait to get to know you better.
Once again, I am grateful for the gift of Skype.
I look forward to long chats and many more smiles!
Thank you for reminding me that my future is only as bright as my faith.
Thank you for reminding how blessed I am to live in a place of peace.
Thank you for reminding me that it is important to let my family know how much I love them.
Thank you for reminding me that it is a good thing to give everything my all.
Thank you for reminding me that I am blessed to have the Gospel.
Thank you for being a ray of sunshine in your small town.
You are an inspiration to all of us.

xoxo
Karly

Thank you Karly for posting this wonderful email from your new friend from Ukraine. She must be a very special young woman...as she gravitated to a very special young woman from St. George!

As we all go through difficult and heart-wrenching times, the following scripture always brings me so much comfort and solace:
"...for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day." Alma 36:3

Love You Much!

Wow, wow, wow, best story ever! I love Erika already. Tell her she's part of our long-distance family. But I especially love that she noticed the ray of sunshine you are for everyone. And also that she was touched by that spiritual quote from afar... AWESOME story! Keep us posted on her.
