The Women In My Life...

This is the first mothers day I've been away from my Mom and Grandma.
Boy am I missing them today.
Tonight I was on the phone with my dear friend Suz and she said to me,
"Karly I love your Mom!"
If I had a penny for every time I heard this I would be a rich woman.
I don't know a single person that doesn't love my Mom.
The same goes for my Grandma.
I guess she inherited her wonderful gifts.
These women are smart, classy, beautiful, good chefs, and above all else they are in every sense of the word... loving.
If I can only be half as wonderful as these women I would feel like a success.

My Mom is a Mother of 7.
4 of her daugthers she gained through marriage.
But she loves them as her own.
She is credited with bring a huge family together.
As we like to say in the Staples home...
Blood means nothin.
My Mom has endured more trials in her life than most women will ever have to.
But she knows she chose this plan and she endures them well.
She is a shining example of acceptance.
She truly sees people through Heavenly Fathers eyes.
When I am a Mom I hope I can see my children - and every one - like my Mom does.

I have also been blessed to watch 6 other women enter the motherhood category.
With one on the way
(I will leave that as a mystery to be announced later)
there is a grand total of 13 staples grand babies.
I have watched each of these women face incredible challenges.
As the youngest staples sister I feel selfish.
I feel selfish that I have gotten to watch each of them endure challenges with such grace and beauty.
And I have taken this into my life and tried to learn from each of them.

Tiffany is a Mom of 5.
She is a go getter and wants the best for her children.
She has taught them manners and obedience.
She is fun and has taught me the importance of being a friend and a mother to your children.
When I am a Mom I hope I can teach my children respect and love like she teaches her little ones.

Patrice is a Mom of 3.
She is the Mom of my nephew who is serving a mission.
She too is a friend to her children.
She has taught them how to be strong in the gospel.
She has taught them how to appreciate other religions and cultures.
I spent many many hours in her home with my so called twin Michael.
Although she was my best friends Mom she is first and foremost my sister.
I resemble her the most out of anyone in our family.
When I am a Mom I hope I can give my children the opportunities and joy she gives her little ones.

Natalie is a Mom of 1.
Little Ryan came into our family after many years of fasting and praying.
And Natalie couldn't be a better Mommy.
Ryan is attached to her like you wouldn't believe.
And I love it.
No one is more deserving of that little one than her.
He is a smart little one because of her.
When I am a Mom I hope I can appreciate my children the way she appreciates her little one.

Sharisa is a Mom of 2.
Patrice always said she knew Sharisa would have a special child.
Sharisa out of all of us has the patience and love for her sweet boy Dylan.
Her life revolves around helping him and finding joy in his small victories.
But her life also revolves around Princess Ella.
She wants to show them she loves them equally.
When I am a Mom I hope I can have the sense of humor, the optimism, and the balance of love with each of my children like she does with her little ones.

Katie is a future Mom.
She is a kid at heart and I know with all of my heart that she is going to be the funnest Mom on the block.
She is going to be an incredibly loving Mom, just like our Mom.
When I am a Mom I hope I can have the connection with my children that I know Katie will have with her little ones.

Mary is a Mom of 1.
She is a bright shining example of how to endure challenges well.
She and Derek make an incredible team.
She knows what it means to instantly love.
She is an example of how to find happiness in the little things.
When I am a Mom I hope I can find joy in the small and simple things like she does with her little one.

I am forever grateful to these women for their example of how to fulfill the greatest calling... that of being a Mother.

You have caused me to be speechless twice within the last 5 days. Me speechless? That never happens. First with your phone call telling me that you got tickets to Oprah at Radio City, front row no less. Not fair, not right, can't decide if I love or hate you over that, can't talk about it. Now this Mothers Day post. For this I know that I love you and I'm overwhelmed by your thoughts, but I'm speechless once again.
