Here are some pics of the Haiti fundraiser.
I feel bad even posting them because I did such minimal work on the project.
Claire was amazing.
The entire event had a red, white, and pink theme.
Super cute.
Although Claire and I decided it kind of felt like an awkard stake dance for a little while.
I am not sure what I am doing here.
However, I am just posting it so you can all see that pony I have going on.
That is right... My hair officially goes back into a pony.

The incredible group that put the whole thing together.
Congrats on a job well done guys.
Thanks for letting make even the tiniest contribution.

Success!

You may remember my BEAUTIFUL friend from freshman year, Claire.
She and I have stayed in touch over the years and I just adore her.
It just so happens I moved in right above her.
She was in charge of Help Haiti...Have a Cookie.
I thought I was putting in a lot of work by baking for 6 hours for this thing....
WRONGO.
You should have seen it.
It was incredible.
By the end of the night they had earned
$2400
to send straight to Haiti.

Claire has the best heart.
Good work Claire!
You are amazing.

In other Haiti Helping news...
I will be producing a segment Monday on Good Thing Utah about an organization called Helping Hands for Haiti.
I found out about this group because James has gone down with their group to translate.
They are a great organization and had their entire compound taken out by the earthquake.
Tune in at 10 am to find out how you can help!

I maybe got goosebumps -
Yes I am THAT pathetic.
I can't decide what I love more -

Daddy-o

Update:
Just talked to good ol' Lar Dog.
He says, "I feel better everyday"
Phew!
He has been hospital free for almost a week now.
HOORAY!
And he even worked one day.
Keep-a-truckin Daddy-o.
Can't wait to see you soon.
xoxo
Your FAVORITE daughter.
(That's right staples girls - I am claiming it)

Snowy Sundance

Since this little stinker served in Canada, he LOVES the snow.
I, on the other hand, cry at the very sight. On Friday we had our first "real" storm this year.
Or at least that's what my wonderful weather woman skills would say.
James insisted we go play in it.
Luckily, I had stolen my Mom's ski clothes from Brianhead.
Oopsie Mom.
They will be returned February 12th.
Promise.
Remember you love me?
Anyway, we put on our snow clothes...
And after a little photo sesh by my "little sista" Missa - we were out the door.

James was in heaven.
As you can see from this photo.

And this one.
Where he tried to teach me how to slide down the hill like a penguin.
MMM... I didn't try it out.
Maybe next time.We made snow angels.
I think mine was far better.
We snapped some pics.
James and Melissa agreed that my signature in self portraits is cutting the other persons head off.
Sowwy. We even drew giant hearts with messages in them.
I thought it would be a fun - 2 minute activity.
But James took it to the next level.I found myself sitting in the snow for 30 minutes while he said...
"DON'T LOOK."
This was my attempt to take a picture of myself mad about waiting in the cold.
Unsuccessful.

My heart.
(about 5 feet wide)
James heart.
(About 50 feet wide)

Truth be told our real hearts are probably reverse in size.
The boy didn't even cry in my Sister's Keeper.
Who does that?
All in all it was a hilarious night.
And I even convinced James that you can sled down a hill on a tray.
He even convinced me that occasionally snow is fun.

Saturday night the boys planned a group date to Sundance.
It was FAREEZING!
They took us to a little place called Zona Rosa.
Yummy Mexican.

We had a waiter named Anthony from Brazil.
He made our night!
James even convinced him to bring him free guac.
Anthony took that cute photo for us.

After dinner we walked the streets of Park City to try to spot some stars.
We didn't have much luck.
It was pretty frigid.
Plus, Jess and I were in heels.
Terrible idea.
Jess almost made it to the car without crashing...
ALMOST.
She had one hilarious fall at the end of the night.
A drunk man pointed and laughed for about 10 minutes.
Classic.
Luckily we had some good snow drivers because the roads were terrible.
Thanks for a fun night boys!

92 Days

Couldn't get here soon enough.

Happy Birthday Jessie!

Jess turned the big 2-1 last week.
Jess and I met because of Kourtney.
But I am so glad I met her.
The two of us have gotten so close this year.
She is one of the most beautiful, spiritual, kind, loyal, and humble people I know.
We went to Brianhead over MLK weekend.
Just the girls.
No pictures were taken because we ate 4 bags of cookies, wore no makeup, didn't do our hair, slept in, stayed up late, watched movies, talked, blogged, etc. etc.
Tuesday was Jess' real birthday.
Her ADORABLE boy had a surprise party for her.
Silly me... forgot my camera.
But I did snap a few pics of these treats I made for the party.
AND.. of course... our new pets we gave Jess.
Meet our frogs.
T Pain and Lil Wayne.
Jess I am so glad you are one of my best friends.
Thanks for always listening, buying the milk, going to the gym, and of course wearing a dirty pony and tee with me and Kourt.
What more could a girl ask for?
We (as in me, Kourt, and the frogs) love you oh so much.
xoxo

Kiki

Dear Kiki,
You are the cutest thing I have EVER seen.

If you don't have a life... Like me...
You should tune in tonight and watch
"Hope for Haiti"
I have goosebumps just reading about it...

"The two-hour, star-studded telethon is set to be one of the most widely distributed prime-time televised benefits in history, appearing simultaneously on more than 25 networks -- including CNN, where Anderson Cooper will report live from Haiti during the event.

Other networks airing "Hope for Haiti" include ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT. The show will even air on the Discovery's eco-lifestyle television network, Planet Green.

Some of the big name performers scheduled to appear include Beyoncé, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Taylor Swift.

Will Smith, Ben Stiller, Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Muhammad Ali, Meryl Streep and former president Bill Clinton are just a smattering of names of some of the other celebs who are set to make an appearance."

TUNE IN!

Notes...

Dear Baby Staples,
I cannot wait for you to come.
(The stork is going to be visiting my long lost besties in Switzerland.)
I can't stop thinking about you.
I know you are going to be a boy.
I just know it.
I wish you were going to live closer so I could see you as soon as you come into this world.
But for now...
I will look at J. Crew kids and dream of all the fantastic things you will be wearing.
And hey - stop making your Mom sick!

Dear Today,
I have been told that I have been "placed" at the Today Show.
WAHOO.
THANK YOU

Dear Hair God's,
I am not quite sure I like my hair short.
My Mom keeps sending me pictures of stars who have recently cut their hair.
She says it's in. And my Mom WOULD know.
But I am not so convinced.
I hear if you take prenatal vitamins it will grow faster.
I am considering.
What do you think?

Dear Apartment 242,
Why are you NEVER EVER clean?
NEVER EVER EVER!
Please clean yourself.

Dear Scholarship Decision Committees,
Larry has been sick lots.
And lots.
So could you please help his youngest child out.
I hate being a burden on the poor heart patient.

Dear Sugar,
I wish you didn't exist.

Dear Haiti,
I can barely stand to watch the news.
I am so sad for you.
I am trying to help anyway I can.
I am praying for you.

Dear Anderson Cooper,
You rock my socks.

He's Home!

These two love birds made it home from the hospital today.
Not sure how many times in and out now.
We stopped counting.
My Mom told me tonight that my Dad's heart went back into the "bad rhythm"
(where he can flat line)
when she left the hospital a few days ago - she needed a little break.
My Dad told my Mom it was cause she left him for a few hours.
His heart just couldn't handle it.
They are the cutest.
One thing I will never ever forget is the day my Dad was in ICU.
With tubes coming out everywhere, he couldn't stop calling my Mom "gorgeous"
It was the most tender thing I have ever heard.
I have loved watching and hearing about them walking down the halls of the heart unit holding hands.
Now, don't get me wrong.
We're all going home to watch these two.
We have to make sure they don't kill each other.
My Mom has that man on lock down.
But only cause she loves him.
My Mom is a saint.
She watches EVERYTHING my Dad puts in his mouth.
She hasn't slept since November.
My Dad is a saint too.
He doesn't want to burden anyone.
But we are all so glad to have him here with us.
I told my Dad he has been stealing my thunder lately.
It's not fun being the baby when your Dad is sick.
So Dad,
Could you knock it off.
Thank you.

For Real This Time

Ok so I had to shamefully admit defeat about the marathon last year.
But my sister Sharisa put it perfectly in a text to me on Friday.
"Dad's heart is making my thighs grow by the second."
Holiday's + Dad's Heart + No sleep + Reporting stress + Working at a bakery = No bueno
So I am signed up for the IceBreaker Triathlon in American Fork.
I have a few friends doing it as well.
I am for real this time.
300 Meter Swim - 12 Mile Bike - 3 Mile Run
March 20 2010
Here I come.

Woo Hoo Moments

Growing up my Mom always used the phrase "Woo Hoo Moments"
Whenever you thought about someone - and then ran into them the next day.
Or had a little inkling about calling someone up - and it turned out they really needed it.
Just the small - important - moments in life.
Well I just had one.
For the past month I have been thinking about my best friend from high school - Cami Glauser.
Well.
Apparently we were both thinking the same thing.
Cami is one of the most talented, beautiful, and loving people I know.

I miss her.
I miss her beautiful family.
Her Mom, Nan, was like my second Mom.
I can remember sitting on Cami's bed the Sunday before we left for school.
We often sat on her bed - held each other - and just talked.
Her Mom came down and told us all about going away from college.
She talked about being true to yourself.
This is what I miss most about the Glausers right now.
They always always taught me to be true to myself.
I am learning a lot about that right now.
I could use a little Cami in my life to remind me how.
Cami is in TX doing her thing
She knows how to "DREAM BIG"
All I can say is -
Watch out for this girl.
She is going to do incredible things.

Update on my Dad

A lot of people have been asking for an update on my Dad.
He's hanging in there.
He is back in the hospital.
His heart rate jumped too high and the poor man passed out.
He hit the floor pretty hard.
But he's pretty strong!
They decided to put a pacemaker in after that.
But even the pacemaker isn't fixing the heart rate.
They are working on fixing it with medication.
He is really hanging in there!
No need to worry.
He will make it through - we are sure.
My sisters and I have been taking turns staying with my parents.
Katie went first, then me, Sharisa, and now Patrice is there.
We are all so blessed and are counting our blessings every moment of every day.

Daddy - We love you lots.
Keep your head up.
Just remember to smile!
xoxo

Dear Weather Man...

THANK YOU.
My freshman year was one of the most horrific experiences in my life.
I can remember walking to school and looking over to see Michael waving me down.
He made me get in the car.
"What're you doing walking to school? It is 5 degrees."
This winter has been SO much better this year.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
xoxo
Karly

P.S. Can you please send summer FAST.
