My birthday was just two weeks after Annie born.
I had already received the best birthday gift possible, so we decided to lay low.
We decided to venture out with a newborn for a long evening.
James was nice enough to try out Native Foods at Fashion Island.
Pretty tasty if you ask me.
Not so tasty if you ask James.
Annie did pretty well until the end of dinner.
Then the meltdown began.
Poor girl hates that carseat so bad.
When we finally got her calmed down we decided to head to Laguna Beach.
Three years ago I met this boy on the PCH in Laguna Beach.
While it wasn't all fireworks from day one for me -
he had an inkling this could be something big.
The hopeless romantic in me loves to walk along the beach just like we did that summer.
We picked up the same caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory that we had that night
and took our new addition to see just where her Mom and Dad met.
She was so touched she cried the entire time.
Ha.
We enjoyed the sunset together for a few moments before calling it a night.
I must admit, even with a crying baby I was pretty nostalgic.
Although our outings have slow down and are often cut short -
I wouldn't change it for the world.
As we drove down the PCH back to our humble abode,
James driving and me in the back with Annie,
I couldn't help but love our new life as a family of three.
We curled up on the couch,
ate the last part of our apple
and soaked up the most perfect birthday gift a girl can ask for...
a newborn babe.
