A couple of weekends ago we drove north about 25 minutes to an area called Huntersville
to visit the Latta Plantation.
It was a cotton plantation built in 1796.
At that time, it was 700 acres and about 34 slaves worked on the property.
We hiked around the grounds, which overlook a beautiful lake.
People were tubing and skiing and it was a gorgeous day.
Annie was an angel babe.
She enjoys being in the carrier and loves when she gets to hang out with her Daddy.
Can you believe those trees?
I still cannot get over the walls and walls of trees here.
I am loving the slow onset of fall in the South.
It is much slower than in Utah -
which is giving us a nice long autumn.
While I loved the California weather
{I mean really, who can complain about 75 degrees year round}
I realized that I missed the seasons.
After complaining about the snow for 4 straight years in Provo,
I actually became quite fond of the change.
I found my first changing leaf on our hike and was thrilled.
I am getting the feel of a real fall and I will tell you what -
I am a bit obsessed!
I wanted to go on a guided tour of the plantation home
but Annie had alternative diaper needs.
So we opted for a visit to the Northlake Mall instead.
James and I are continually amazed at how spread out Charlotte is.
We have only scratched the surface of what there is to do and see here.
We have so much more to explore and look forward to completing our fall bucket list.

I've been following your blog for a while, but have just recently gotten brave enough to start commenting on stranger's blog. Annie is so precious and is getting cuter every day. Glad you're enjoying Charlotte!
