Jessie + Dave Wedding

The day of Jessie's wedding was simply perfect.
I had been looking forward to this weekend for a long time
and it was everything I had anticipated.
It was just what the doctor ordered for this slightly homesick girl.
The weather was perfect and the LA temple was beautiful.
And...Jessie.
Have you ever seen a more stunning bride?
She was absolutely beaming.
I can't get over these pictures of her.
Just stunning.

For me, the whole weekend was a reminder of what incredible friends I have.
It was a juggling act for me with rides and Annie.

The Welte's basically got me through the whole weekend.
They are like family to me and I adore every one of them.
Dustin and Elise Call were nice enough to let me hitch a ride.
My goodness that was a sacrifice for them.
When we arrived at the temple, I was so excited to meet my dear friend Suz.
She took Annie while I was in the ceremony and I knew she was in good hands with her auntie Suz.
Sure enough, she went right to sleep for her and slept until I came to get her.

I learned a lot as a Mom that weekend.
First, it is not as easy to travel alone. It was a big wakeup call for me and my friends had to make up for my shortcomings in planning. Second, it is ok to ask for help. I'll be honest - I felt like a huge burden on my friends most of the weekend. And still get a little teary when I think about how much everyone helped me. But I had to learn that it is ok. My friends adored Annie and hopefully one day I will be able to repay the favor to all of them. It was a big adjustment for me and a lesson I had to learn. Thank you to Suz, Dustin and Elise, the entire Welte clan, Katie and Joe and the whole bit.

It was so good to see Kourt. Gosh, I miss living close to my best friends. We were able to have a few short catch up sessions but by golly I'd do just about anything to get on a plane see her and Matt and Kelsey and Austin.

Annie, loving on auntie Suz. Have I mentioned how much I adore both of these girls? Suz is like a sister and is always my lifesaver. I can't say it enough how much it mean to see all of these girls.

Jessie's reception was one of my all time favorites.
The setting was so picturesque and nothing beats that gorgeous California weather on a summer night.

Gary and Kris Welte held Annie for over an hour.
I am fairly certain they are Annie's third set of grandparents.
She was in heaven in Gary's arms.
It allowed me to dance with my friends and feel like a college kid again.
It was a blast.

Most importantly, Jessie could not have looked happier. This girl is truly one of the most humble, spiritual and incredible women I know. I look up to her in so many ways. It was a pretty special weekend to see her marry the perfect man for her. Oh how I long for the late night girl chats of apartment 242. Those were some of the best years of my life. These girls were and are my family. They will always, always hold a special place in my heart. Thankfully, they have all married men I absolutely adore. Jessie was no exception and I am so excited to have Dave join in on the fun. I couldn't be more happy for this couple. Cheers to you Mr. and Mrs. Nixon. Congratulations!
