The Father of My Little One...

Today marks James' first Fathers Day.
Just writing those words makes me teary.
Unfortunately we are on opposite sides of the country at the moment.
Oh how I am longing to be with him today.
I am a Daddy's girl through and through.
It was incredibly important for me to find a husband and father like him.
I'll never forget a particular Sunday when James took me to church with him for the first time.
It may sound odd - but as he introduced me I could tell he saw me the way my Dad does.
He saw things in me that I didn't see in myself.
It was then that I knew that James was going to be an incredible Father.

The moment Annie entered the world I fell even more in love with that man.
It was such a sacred moment and everyone else faded away.
He was all I needed to become a Mom.
Annie looks just like him
and I couldn't be more thrilled.
When I gaze into those eyes I can't help but think of her Dad
and the love I have for him as a Father.
He adores that little girl.
And my oh my would he do anything for her.
James is a peacemaker, he is sincere, he is my comforter, he is a spiritual giant and
{although I hate to stroke his ego}
he is the funniest person I know.
But most importantly he always chooses to see the good in others.
Just like my Dad, he saw it in me.
And I know he sees and will see it in our little ones.

James is spending his first Fathers Day with his own Dad.
The man he looks up to more than anyone else.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Fathers - in particular the three in my life.

Happy first Fathers Day James.
Love,
Your Girls.

The History of the Golfing Polo Bear...

It took James 2 months to kiss me.
2.full.months people.
My roommates and I could not figure this boy out.
We analyzed and analyzed.
And then one night he showed up in that gray beauty on the left.
As soon as he left my apartment I said - word for word...
"That bear may have been a deal breaker."
I hated that shirt.
At the time I had no idea that it was a Polo shirt -
I thought it was just a random teddy.
Obviously, he redeemed himself with an adorable first kiss a few nights later.
The bear has managed to survive, despite my constant attempts to trash this raggedy ol' thing.
Most of our family and friends know how much I abhor this puppy
and it has become quite the joke.
When James landed his new gig I pulled out the reinvented bear.
Boy was he surprised and we could not stop laughing.
No matter how odd I find this shirt -
I secretly love its history.
Welcome 2012 weird golfing Ralph Lauren bear.
As odd as you are -
I guess you can stay.

College Friends Visit CA...

Some of our best friends from college came down to California for Memorial Day.
{minus Blair who was missed dearly - but I was sure glad Nicole decided to come anyway},
and Tanner and Joey.
I must admit, I was giddy about them meeting Annie for the first time.
Something about having your girlfriends meet your baby for the first time is just special.
We went to dinner at BJ's on the peninsula the first night and we talked delivery and babies.
I was so excited to see Dani Bree and her itsy bitsy baby bump.
I love that our friends are starting to add little ones to the bunch.
On Saturday they came down from Yorba Linda again to hit the beach near our apartment.
Although Annie had been to the beach several times before
I decided to dress her up in her swimsuit.
She mostly stayed bundled up but I wanted her to enjoy sunbathing with the girls.
She was a natural.
{Thanks for the darling swimsuit Courtney}
That night we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Pugmires beautiful home.
I loved sitting in a circle and chatting with some of my closest friends with a baby in my arms.
It was simply marvelous.
Praying to see them all sooner rather than later.

Flourish Photography Family Pictures...

Our wedding photographer and dear friend snapped these pictures for us while we were in St. George.
We love them.
She always seems to capture some real smiles out of James and some wonderful moments.
Thank you Jess.
We love them!

Annie's First Visit to STG...

It was a Wednesday afternoon during paternity leave and we were enjoying some beach time when suddenly it dawned on me that we could be moving to Charlotte -
and I didn't know when I would go home next.
I suggested to James that we could go to St. George for the weekend.
Oddly, he loves going "home" just as much as I do.
He was in!
But he was only in if we could surprise my Mom.
We called my Dad and set the plan in motion.
That night I went back and forth a thousand times.
I was nervous about taking Annie that far away and on such a long car ride.
I decided it was a no-go around 11 p.m.
But 12 hours later I couldn't take it.
We packed up our things and hit the road.
First stop - dinner with my Dad in Vegas.
{He works there four days a week}
He was so excited to see little Annie.
I must admit, I love seeing my Dad ooh and aww over her.
Melts my heart.
Next stop, the Nelson home.
James' close friend Brian and his wife Christina live in Vegas
so we stopped in for a quick visit.
It was great to see Brian but we were sad to miss Christina and baby James.

Then it was on to St. George.
Unfortunately it was getting rather late and we were scared my Mom would go to bed.
So, we called her and played a little phone teasing
before spilling the beans that we were just an hour and a half away.
She was so excited she started to cry.
We pulled in around midnight -
so tired but ready to see my parents new house and indulge in some family time.
My Mom was on cloud nine.

The next morning we were ready to introduce our little lady to some of our favorite people.
We were thrilled to have my Grandma, Annie's "Grandma Great," see the little babe.
Annie's middle name comes from my Grandma's mom -
May Sandberg.
I was never able to meet her but have heard and read about what an incredible wife and mother she was.
Needless to say, Annie's name is rich in heritage on my Grandma's side.
How could it not be?
My Grandma is truly one of the most charming women you will ever meet and this day was no exception.
I adore these pictures of her holding Annie and will always treasure them.

Of course one of the first visitors was Auntie Lissa.
One of my life long best friends.
{Sadly we missed Kelsey and a few others that were out of town.}
We knew she and Wess were coming into town -
which obviously played a role in our decision to come.
I am fairly certain she was obsessed with Annie.
Although it doesn't look like it in this picture -
I know Annie was a fan as well.

Oh and Elizabeth, one of my second Mom's.
Like I always say -
it takes a village to raise a child and Elizabeth was definitely in that village for me.
When she first saw Annie she teared up and couldn't believe it.
I loved that moment.
Reminded me how special this really is.
Thank you Elizabeth.

James and Wess played a little golf and then came over to see the new addition.
This pictures sums up James - making fun of all of us goo goo gaaing over her.
But the best part of this moment was when James asked Wess,
"So what do your think?"
and he responded with something like
"The view of the golf course is great."
James laughed and said,
"Well I was referring to my child but yes you're right."
Oh it still cracks me up just thinking of it.
We love Wess.

I was able to squeeze in a haircut with a darling new friend.
It worked out perfectly cause my Mom was able to hold Annie.
I didn't really think about haircuts.
How do you do that with a little one?
Guess its time I start thinking about babysitters in the future.

That night we headed to Pasta Factory.
I craved it my entire pregnancy.
Those veggie noodles with marinara really hit the spot.
But most importantly those breadsticks.
So bad - yet so good.
Tastes like STG.
Am I right or am I right?

After dinner Kelsee and JK Snow came over.
It was a blast seeing them and Kelsee's darling new baby bump
How did I not snap a picture?
They are always a hoot to chat with and we are so excited about their new addition.
Baby Snow can't get here soon enough.

We followed dinner up with a visit to the Adams home.
Jeff was nice enough to shine up my ring and we enjoyed a good visit sesh as Melissa calls it.
We were thrilled Annie got to meet Cheryl too.
Another one of my neighborhood Moms.
Love those ladies.

The next day Jessica was able to squeeze us in to take a few pictures of our family.
Thank you Jessica!
She took them in the middle of about 5 different shoots
so we were very grateful.
I will post pics soon.
Jessica is always a delight to work with.

That night my Mom made a tasty dinner and James decided to golf.
My parents now live on Sunbrook Golf Course
so James whirled around and picked us up for his last two holes.
I have always loved watching him golf but now it is even more fun.
Check out that view on the last hole.
Man I love those red rocks.

It was a quick trip and a bit difficult with a little one in tow
but it was definitely worth it.
I love my hometown!
My parents had moved since the last time I was there -
we love their new house and are so happy for them.
But at the end of the day it felt so right to come back "home" with my new family.
We are building a life of our own and creating our own home -
wherever it may be.
Its not right for everyone - but its right for us.
My home is where my family is
and that knowledge keeps me moving as we pack up and head across the country.

Those Two Faces...

Having James home for a few weeks was nothing short of blissful.
Boy do I love those two faces.

Flashback Birthday...

My birthday was just two weeks after Annie born.
I had already received the best birthday gift possible, so we decided to lay low.
We decided to venture out with a newborn for a long evening.
James was nice enough to try out Native Foods at Fashion Island.
Pretty tasty if you ask me.
Not so tasty if you ask James.

Annie did pretty well until the end of dinner.
Then the meltdown began.
Poor girl hates that carseat so bad.
When we finally got her calmed down we decided to head to Laguna Beach.

Three years ago I met this boy on the PCH in Laguna Beach.
While it wasn't all fireworks from day one for me -
he had an inkling this could be something big.
The hopeless romantic in me loves to walk along the beach just like we did that summer.

We picked up the same caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory that we had that night
and took our new addition to see just where her Mom and Dad met.
She was so touched she cried the entire time.
Ha.

We enjoyed the sunset together for a few moments before calling it a night.
I must admit, even with a crying baby I was pretty nostalgic.

Although our outings have slow down and are often cut short -
I wouldn't change it for the world.
As we drove down the PCH back to our humble abode,
James driving and me in the back with Annie,
I couldn't help but love our new life as a family of three.
We curled up on the couch,
ate the last part of our apple
and soaked up the most perfect birthday gift a girl can ask for...
a newborn babe.
