I'm new to the ol' Mom thing, but here's my take:

-I think it is smart to go into labor planning on as little intervention as possible. Here's why. If you go in knowing that you're getting an epidural (or even worse, get induced on your due date because your baby wasn't looking at that calendar in there), you'll go to the hospital really early, which could lead to needing pitocin to speed things up, which can often lead to c-sections after dropped heart rates (not always.. It's just a classic cycle and I've heard that story a lot). WIth that said, I totally had an epidural and loved it. It wasn't my plan, but it worked for me. I labored for a long time without it and went to the hospital dilated to a 6.5!!

Also, with baby items. Sometimes less is more. People go crazy when most things aren't at all necessary (a wipes warmer is coming to mind). I did love the velcro swaddle wraps. Also, I second.. or third.. the motion to get a double stroller now. Why not? You'll probably have another baby in a couple of years anyway! I love our Baby Jogger City Select (it can be single or double). My advice is to get last years model (of any brand). We got our 2010 stroller around this time last year. The almost identical 2011s were coming out, so ours was hundreds of dollars off!

I feel like I have bought every baby thing out there...Haha I will let you know what ends up being a giant waste of money (cuz chances are there will be a few things)! I just wanted to be completely prepared. I'm not one of those "brave" women. In 5 or so weeks when I go into labor, I'm going to say one thing--"Give me the drugs" and hopefully it will be as painless as possible!! Love you babe!!

With the Birthing Plan ideas... I think you should plan on whatever you're comfortable with, and don't push yourself into anything. You want to be kind of/ sort of calm (at least not frantic) when you're having a baby, so just make decisions that will put you in that sort of mood. You never know what will happen though.

As far as baby gear is concerned, I recommend spending a few extra bucks on getting a nice crib. We had one for a short period that wasn't the cheapest, but still not good, and it rocked back and forth, and was not strudy at all. Scary!

so much better than the back pack type things. My husband even loves to use the wrap. So much easier on your back and shoulders, they are just so cuddled into you, babies love it, mums love it, dads love it. So get one!!

I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I went into my labor with a birth plan. I wanted this, I didn't want that, this is how I want it.

Let me just tell you, I was so incredibly disappointed in myself when NOTHING went according to my plan. I broke down when I had to have the epidural, I couldn't handle it when I had to have my emergency c section, I was so upset when my hubs couldn't cut the chord.

Now, I'm not saying that this will happen to you, not at all, but I wish that I had gone into it with less of a plan and more of a Que Cera Cera kind of attitude.

Just please, remember, go into it with a plan, but also know that your plan might just be thrown out the window. Because God really is the only one who gets to decide how it all pans out. :)

Karly! I am so excited for you! I had Beckham completely natural. They did give me a little bit of pitocin to speed things up. I loved it because i could react to my bodys natural instincts and I was really afraid that if I had the epidural I wouldn't be able to feel if something was wrong, and didn't feel right. I didn't feel my contractions until I was dilated to and 8 and after that it all went so quick. So there's my two cents worth! Good luck!

Buy a double stroller from the get go. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=phil+and+ted+double+stroller&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=4584519429&ref=pd_sl_85amuv55eb_e I got this one it's a jogger and the back part comes off so it can be a single and later on if you need to you can buy the back piece for a double. Chicco Key fit car seat is the best in my opinion and it can adapt to the stroller I suggested. Get a monitor with a camera. That's all I can think of now. You look darling by the way. Hope you continue to feel good being sick is no fun!
